Uncharted

Matt, Tommy, and myself fished some new areas this morning and we had some excellent fishing, We caught plenty of nice trout, lots of drum with a handful of keepers, a few stripers, and a 19″ flounder.  Enjoyed the morning guys! Luckily I had some duct tape on board to fix a small leak in a rotten gas line bulb.  Duct tape fixes everything.

Dubs

Fish with Matt and company this morning.  We departed the ramp at 0600 and headed to the fishing grounds.   We arrived to some calm glassy conditions with little bait pods moving around.  It looked promising and we nailed a trout on the first or second cast.  I decided to move up into shallower water to try and find the guys a red.  No luck there so we moved back out and get some nice solid trout in the boat include a 21 incher.  Picked away at them with some throwback trout drum flounder and striper.  We managed a few more keeper trout and Eric who caught the 21 inch trout also hit a nice 19 inch drum later in the morning.  Once the sun got up things went pretty dry with a hit here and a hit there in the last hour of the trip. Overall these guys were pumped and I enjoyed there company.

Kens Birthday Grand Slam

Good friend Ken and myself spent his birthday morning searching for some fish to pull on.  The grey overcast gloomy day started off pretty slow with a couple trout a small striper and alot of missed bites.  I decided to make a move and it was game on!  First a nice trout, then drum after drum for a couple hours, a few flounder mixed in, and smiles all around.  It was just one of those magic mornings.   We headed in after a few high fives to go check the surf.  We were greeted with some sun waist to chest high waves with nobody out.  I felt like it was my birthday too.  Enjoyed the morning Ken, Happy Birthday dude!

Sweatshirts in August

I had Matt and company on Thursday morning.  We had some throwback drum and one keeper in the box.  I made a long move mid morning that didn’t end up being a good one.  Good effort by the fisherman, poor showing by the fish.

Friday morning I had Larry and his son Donovon with me.  It was probably the worst weather I have had a charter in this year but we grinded out some nice dinner!  These guys braved the 25mph NE wind and borderlined chilly conditions.  We tucked away behind some points and creeks and caught some nice trout and a fat orange puppy.  With the tough conditions we also missed a few solid bites with the wind just creating so much slack in the line.   We were tucked away in a creek and a saw a gator trout 3-4lbs easy come completely out of the water on a shrimp.  We threw topwater at it for a while with no love. Glad to see some solid keeper trout showing up again after being invaded by dinks for the past month.

Thanks for fishing with me guys!

Couple lemon fish

My original plans for the day fell through, so I wasted no time with the calm conditions.  Called up a buddy and away we went searching for browns off the beach. . . Conditions were so calm that the glare was terrible.  Fortunately it was so slick that you could actually see the fish making a small wake or “V” on the surface.  We saw 10 or so . . . hooked 2.  Fun day

Sound charter Thursday stay tuned for report! Thanks for checking Salt Minded
