Making memories

Had Leif and his Father and Grandfather on board for a nice Father’s Day gift trip.   He really wanted to catch sharks so we drifted the chum back and caught some sharpies and a blacktip.   Got lucky and hit a motherload of big drum on the way in.  Nice bonus.  However, a little further in my boat decided to break down and we had to get towed in.  Memories……

Shoulda been

Today’s report should of consisted of a slob 50lb+ cobia, but due to some unknown dumb reason the line broke and he swam away.  Oh well, that does happen.  Caught a good amount of small flounders today along with a variety of bottom dwellers.   This was the fish of the day – a nice 19″ flatty. Thanks for fishing with me!

Home sweet home

Back at it today with three four hour trips.  This morning we caught some bottom fish before heading out and chumming for some sharks.   The upwelling caused the water temp to plummet and we didn’t get love from the sharks.

Mid day trip the winds really let up and we went out to the wrecks looking for amberjack.  We managed 1 to the boat before the radar told me to head back in closer to land.   Went back in and pulled some fish off the bottom.

Lastly, had some kiddos this evening.  We had to wait for the storms to pass but it cleared up and we had some beautiful weather. We got to see a waterspout in the distance while we pulled a million croakers and various other fish off the bottom.  Had enough of that and went looking for a drum – found one.   Ended the evening with some bluefish and a great sunset.

Thanks everyone for fishing with me!

Bay Report

Had a pretty tough time in the Bay to say the least.  A combination of tough conditions and missed opportunities made for a less then expected trip.   I had my expectations wayyyy too high, which is setting yourself up for disappointment.    I was able to enjoy some great company on the water with a little catching on the side – can’t complain about that.   I am back home now and ready to get back on the grind.   Here is a pic of one of our fish from the Bay.  This one was the wrong color – but tons of fun.  Check out Bens 51″ beast!
