Less then ideal conditions today.  Strong winds and rain in and out.   Had Tim and company on board.  We did manage to find a few drum.  The guys wanted some meat so we tried to find a cobia, but no luck.  We still had a great time. Thanks guys

FAQ: The Morning Trip

sleep_in_3_m1381399

I get alot of requests for morning trips.  I also turn alot of people down because they only wanted a morning trip    If you are already on the Outer Banks – you will most likely not be able to book a morning trip with me for that week (Until after labor day).  Morning slots are booked weeks in advance – my next open morning is August 11th.

People say they think the fishing would be better in the morning, but that is definitely not the case with the fishery we have right now.  That can definitely apply to some species – but none of which we are targeting right now.  Most of the spots / fish are more tide dependent then anything else.

Also, some customers are concerned about the heat during the middle of the day.  It can certainly get warm – but there is usually a nice breeze on the water that is far cooler then the one the rest of your group will feel while they are baking on the beach.   I also have plenty of shade under the T-Top.  Feel free to bring your bathing suit too.   There’s always time for a quick swim!

So go ahead and sleep in, have a nice breakfast, let that hangover ease a little and let’s fit you in one of my afternoon slots and I’ll see you at the dock at noon, or maybe an evening trip at 4pm!

PS – today’s fishing report – Found 5 keeper flounder and got back on the drum. Nice trip!

Knee update

Hey guys, the lack of reports is due to the lack of fishing.  I somehow picked up some kind of infection in my leg / knee and I have been in my friggin’ bed for 4 days.  I’ve received a shot and some antibiotics that seem to be taking care of it.  Still in alot of pain and alot of swelling and redness.  Hope this clears up soon – it’s awful!  I need to get back to fishing!!!

Flounders and a Whale

Had Neal and Company out for a morning half day trip yesterday.  These guys were hilarious and had me rolling the whole time.  We caught a couple keeper flounder mixed in with some throwbacks and a ton of grass.  Thanks for fishing with me guys. !  The other photo is from the other evening we had a humpback whale breaching over and over about 6 miles off the beach.  He gave us a heck of a show!

Went 1 for 3 today on a tough cloudy morning.  Caught a bunch of croakers early in hopes of feeding some stubborn fat girls.  We felt pretty lucky to get 1 in the box.  Thanks for grinding it out guys!!
