The bluefish bite on the Outer Banks has been nothing short of electric lately, and it’s exactly what we love to see this time of year. Schools of aggressive blues have pushed into the sound and along the inlets, providing fast-paced action that’s perfect for anglers of all skill levels.
🎣 The Bite
We’ve been finding consistent action with bluefish ranging from 1–4 pounds, with some larger chopper blues mixed in. These fish are feeding aggressively, often busting bait on the surface—when it happens, it’s chaos in the best way possible. If you’ve never experienced a bluefish blitz, it’s something you won’t forget.
Topwater plugs, spoons, and soft plastics have all been producing. When the fish are fired up, it doesn’t take much—get a bait in the water and hang on.
📍 Where We’re Fishing
Most of our success has been around the inlets, shallow flats, and deeper channels in the sound. Moving water has been key, especially during tide changes when bait is getting pushed through.
👨👩👧👦 Great for Families & Groups
Bluefish are one of the best targets for families and first-time anglers. They’re aggressive, plentiful, and put up a great fight. Expect bent rods, plenty of laughs, and maybe a few bitten-off lines thanks to those sharp teeth.
🧊 Bonus: Take Some Home
Bluefish are also great on the table when fresh. We’re happy to clean your catch so you can enjoy a true Outer Banks fish dinner after your trip.
