Night and Day

Tough morning for my crew who bounced around the sound with me only to manage a couple bottom fish.  Sorry guys – great effort.  We did slip outside for the last part of the trip and we found 0 life.

The afternoon was a different story.  Nick and Don had cobia tunnel vision so that was the mission.  I gave em the bad news at the dock about the morning trip – but they were optimistic.  We couldn’t of asked for better conditions on the water today.  Slick calm – small swell – light breeze.  Ended up finding a little flurry of fish we saw 6 and caugth 2.  Nick got his first cobia and Don caught his biggest cobia at 60lbs.   That’s a good day.     We also saw about a 15ft great white.

RIP Trout

Well, today marks the last day of the season that I will fish for speckled trout…… Unless something miraculous happens.  We did manage a nice 20″ striper during the search for the elusive speck.   We switched over to flounder for a couple hours and picked through about a dozen 14 inchers to get one 17″ keeper.  Spent the last hour outside looking for a cobia, with no love.   Thanks guys – fun morning!

Flounders and a Whale

Had Neal and Company out for a morning half day trip yesterday.  These guys were hilarious and had me rolling the whole time.  We caught a couple keeper flounder mixed in with some throwbacks and a ton of grass.  Thanks for fishing with me guys. !  The other photo is from the other evening we had a humpback whale breaching over and over about 6 miles off the beach.  He gave us a heck of a show!

Jesse & Co.

Jesse, Mike, Bobby, and their Pops joined me for two 3/4 days this week.  The first day was Tuesday and we had a pretty slow day.  We caught 1 keeper cobia out of the 3 we saw.

Today we gave it another go, Jesse wanted a piggy!  We fished inside for a little while to start the day and we caught some throwback flounder and misc. bottom fish.  We tried sheepshead for a bit but we decided it was time to run out the inlet.  It wasn’t a very pleasant ride out….. The inlet was breaking all the way across.  We finally got out and saw a fish pretty quickly.   Ended up seeing a total of 10 and catching 4 in about 2 hours.   We had a couple shots at the big one (70+) but never made the connection.  Next year Jesse!!!  Thanks for joining me guys – great company

No pics report

Went 1 for 3 today on a tough cloudy morning.  Caught a bunch of croakers early in hopes of feeding some stubborn fat girls.  We felt pretty lucky to get 1 in the box.  Thanks for grinding it out guys!!
